Them's Fightin Herds 1.0 Released
If you have been an active follower of the My Little Pony series, you'd no doubt have heard of the Fighting is Magic fangame. Prior to its discontinued development, Fighting is Magic featured a complex, combo-heavy gameplay style with "magic" attack buttons that allow for special support actions.
Them's Fightin' Herds is a refinement of Fighting is Magic with improved core gameplay mechanics. The Indie fighting game features a cast of four-legged animals (that double as champions from their individual tribes) as they continue to engage one another in other to take possession of a magical key that could be used against their predators. Each of them wants to protect their world.
What makes the game distinct from the conventional fighting game includes its refined character moveset, competitive modes, fighting styles, and different attack types. Explore the adventure of a combat game that offers a unique experience!

Equestria Gaming's Sixth Anniversary!
Well, would you look at that.
Looks like
it's a certain colorful horse gaming website's anniversary today! It's kinda hard to believe this place has been around for six years, isn't it? That's cumulatively
speaking, anyway; the actual "active time" count being a little wonky what with all the inactivity and outright death and junk. Still though, given all the stops and starts over the years, the fact that the site's still around
and kicking (not to mention something I've happily become a part of!) even through all of that is simply
amazing
to me!
Y'know, I've got to admit that it's quite a bit harder to write up something with more substance than just "hey the site aged how about that" than I thought it was going to be. Our version of Equestria Gaming is rather different than the site in years past, seeing as this is a very independent reboot-slash-continuation of the
original
, meaning that we just don't have around on-staff capable of waxing nostalgic in a way you'd expect for a later anniversary.
Of course, that doesn't mean we
can't
have anything like that! We might not have been around here for a
super
long time, but we were (er, mostly) readers once and have at least
some
memories all the same! Which brings me to my point; the same goes for all of
you
out there reading this post!
We've
got a comment section,
you
have the memories or at least
something
to say; wax nostalgic about Equestria Gaming, colorful horse gaming, or even just colorful horses in general below!
To those of you that have stuck around the past six years, thank you! Onward towards the future!

Starswirl Academy Goes Completely Non-Pony
Original Post
After spending a couple months as one of the pony fandom's most popular projects, Hasbro decided to go easy on Starswirl Academy for some reason and ask that the characters be renamed, in addition to some slight modifications to their designs. This means that it is no longer pony-related in the slightest, but is now yet another generic "schoolgirl dating" visual novel with not much going for it aside from its pretty art and the reasonable cost of $0. They've taken down all their trailers and demos from the internet, by the way, so you might want to hang onto your copy for now.
Before you ask, this does mean that yes, we won't be posting about Starswirl Academy anymore (unless an "unofficial mod" comes out to make some...erm, adjustments to the VN).

Questria: Princess Destiny on Indiegogo
Ok, so I'm late on this one - I blame my long hiatus. However, for those of you who still haven't heard, the developers of the stalled project Questria have put together a really impressive presentation and game trailer over on Indiegogo.
The project titled Questria has been in the works for a long time - originally, it was planned as a 3D pony game, until the developers officially detached the project from the My Little Pony name. Now, it seems the game has re-emerged with all pony-related vocabulary and trademarks conspicuously absent - but the developers seem to be toeing the copyright line as close as possible.
The new Questria trailer shows off some impressive art and 3D gameplay, and the project seems polished and well-organized. However, with character art that humanizes the mane six down to the horns, and names like Trix, Sirelestia and Twibright Spankle, it seems likely that this project is headed for a C&D notice down the road. Hopefully, the team knows what they've gotten themselves into. Check it out!

Success! Mane Six Earns the Skullgirls Engine
Despite the doubts of many (myself included), the Keep Skullgirls Growing campaign managed to reach the required goal of $725k with only 10 hours left, which means Mane Six gets to use the incredible Skullgirls engine for free. Congratulations to everypony who donated! I am proud of you all.
...In case you're confused as to what good this means for Mane Six and the future of Fighting is Magic, I would advise that you read their official FAQ on the subject.

Mane 6 May Use Skullgirls's Engine
Update: Still have questions? Then visit Mane 6's Official FAQ, where they also have additional character teasers and whatnot.
As of now Mane 6 is no longer producing My Little Pony fangames, but with Lauren Faust on the team they have a bright future; and if Lab Zero Games's Keep Skullgirls Growing IndieGoGo campaign reaches $750,000 their future will be brighter still. You see, Lab Zero Games has offered Mane 6 their Skullgirls engine for free if we can raise their campaign to $750,000, and this means that the spiritual successor to Fighting is Magic will be in full high-definition, run on consoles and have full Linux support. This would be a huge boost to fighting game enthusiasts everywhere, and even though the game doesn't include ponies I would still highly encourage you to donate to the campaign. I think I might even contribute a bit myself, although unfortunately I can't spare much...
Will I post much on Mane 6's new game? It's a bit too early to say, but I will follow the development of their game whether it features ponies or not.

Lauren Faust to Help Make Mane 6's Next Game
Unsurprisingly, Mane 6's negotiations with Hasbro over the C&D of Fighting is Magic didn't go all that well, and as most folks have already heard about Lauren Faust's offering to design new characters for them it should come as no real shock that Mane 6 decided to take up the offer. This means that Fighting is Magic will no longer be a My Little Pony fangame, but take place in its own setting with unique characters and have pretty much the same stuff as Fighting is Magic (with the notable exception of colourful equines).
Also, a while back the dev team behind Skullgirls, Lab Zero Games, offered their engine to Mane 6, but there has been no official response as of yet. I believe that Mane 6 should accept the offer, as this would give them the opportunity to publish their game to consoles and use high definition sprites instead of being limited to 480p. It would mean that they would have to rewrite most of the characters, yes, but they could potentially end up with a higher-quality product by taking this route...
Sick of my rambling on the Skullgirls engine? Then visit Mane 6's original blog post for some more detailed information on the situation, along with a quote from Lauren Faust (and not a single mention of Skullgirls to boot).

Equestria Gaming is Now 1 Year Old!
Equestria Gaming is now one year old. Since I had to do something for a commemoration post (and I had no idea what else to do), have some Flintstones singing. I have something else to post later that might be a tad more interesting then this, but don't count on much.

The Return of Harmony--er, Sapphire.
Hey Everypony!
I'm very sorry for my long absence. I've also been impacted by the wrath of college. I may have my work cut out for me academically and socially(trying to keep Twilight's wisdom in mind when making friends), but I'm finding it a bit easier to manage my time and so I thought it was a good as time as any to return. Expect updates soon!

College - No time for interwebs
College hit me hard and fast guys
In fact, I should be working on my essay now rather than posting here.
So as you can see, I haven't had ANY time to do anything with the site, and I'm in need of some help.
The other guy who was supposed to be helping me hasn't been seen by me in a while, and I've got no one to help run this while I'm getting all my work done.
I apologize for not being active, when I get my work all under control I'll try to be better, but until then I really need some help.
shoot me an email if you think you can help, and if you want to help with posting and such, go ahead and include a quick review or news post so I can see if you're writing style works.

A few Bronies are trying to pull off something insane.
A 24 hour steam of Minecraft.
Now this has little to do with actual MLP: FiM, but they're Bronies, and Minecraft is a game, so I figured, meh, whatevs.
Here is some information:
