Introducing My Little Longplays!

Over the past 14 years, there's been a whole heck of a lot of pony games that have come and gone. While there are plenty we remember fondly, and some that are still going strong to this day, the vast majority have been forgotten. Flash and HTML5 games, being browser based, are easy enough to preserve and keep in the public eye... but what of the countless ancient PC pony games that have long since faded from memory?
Welcome to My Little Longplays, a new site feature dedicated to full playthroughs of all of the fantastic pony games that time forgot! To start things off, we're heading back to the magnificent, far-off year of 2013 and having an intense battle against Fluttershy for the title of "Shhh!" World Champion in this game developed by Vanni. Who will win? You'll just have to watch and find out!

Dream Studio's "Fallout Equestria: The Rise of Heroes" Animation

The seemingly endless Fallout: Equestria content train is still running strong! Dream Studios, a group from the Chinese-speaking side of the fandom, recently dropped this awesome looking trailer for an ongoing series of FO:E videos. If post-apocalyptic ponies are your thing, check it out above!
Also worth mentioning: this upload of the trailer comes courtesy of the channel Cosmia’s Stash, which is dedicated to republishing content from the Chinese fandom on YouTube. Y’all should definitely give some of the stuff there a look too!

EQG Game Catchup Post III

I just don't know what went wrong
art by uteuk
Hey there, folks! We mentioned two months ago that we'd do a catch-up post in a few weeks, so, uhm, here we are! We have a fair few games to go over today, and this may be the longest catchup article yet!
Also stay tuned, because many of the games listed here will be heading to the arcade soon™!

Cynifree - Blank Slate

While it seems like pony game-related tracks are relatively few and far between nowadays, on the occasion they do show up it's always a good time! While the connection isn't overt, in the description of the video Cynifree describes the atmosphere of the track having been based around the classic pony horror game Story of the Blanks. While I'm no music writer by literally any stretch of the imagination, I can definitely say the inspiration definitely shines through and it's just generally a super dope track. Give it a listen via the embed above, and while we're at it, check out the album it was made for and give the rest of those musicians some love!

Fallout Equestria: Remains Trailer Released

Following the release of version 1.0 of empalu and friends' wonderful Fallout Equestria: Remains just a short while ago, it looks like we've gotten a trailer to tie everything together! Check it out above, and be sure to visit their newly minted English website for additional news, changelogs, downloads, screenshots and everything else you'd expect to find!

NIA: Path of Light Teaser Trailer Released

Despite some rather interesting developmental delays and other issues (not what you'd expect, to say the least) over the past few months, it appears that the team behind the 3D point-and-click adventure NIA: Path of Light has gotten things back on track! To that end, they've released this rather neat looking little teaser trailer for the game; while it doesn't actually show any gameplay, it's definitely interesting enough to watch and proves a nice sign of life from the project as a whole. Check it out above!

[Unofficial] Two Best Sisters Play - Skyrim

If you've gotten a tiny bit impatient while waiting for the next entry in 2snacks' popular Two Best Sisters Play videos, it looks like there's at least a little something to tide you over until the next one drops! Russian animation team NDAnimations brings us a fan episode of a fan series (neat!) ponifying the Two Best Friends misadventures in the world of Skyrim; check out the video embedded above!

Limey Lassen - Starlight Glimmer Doesn't Forgive You

Looks like we've just missed the boat (well, that's certainly a new one) on having something relevant to post on Starlight Glimmer Day, but such is life. We've come across a pretty interesting little track from the artist Limey Lassen, a remix of Starlight's in-show BGM evidently inspired by the wonderful Starlight Glimmer Simulator! Check it out above, and be sure to give the artist some love!

"Metal Gear Friendship" Animation

So, here's something a little bit different for a change! A wonderful, adorable Metal Gear inspired animated short from the rather talented animator BrutalWeather! Check out the short above, and maybe have a look through the remainder of their animations while you're at it if you have the time!

Friendship is Epic - 1 Hour Gameplay Video

Jyc Row, the composer and French translator for the stunning Japanese 2.5D beat-em-up Friendship is Epic, recently uploaded an hour-long video of a few members of their team playing an internal dev build of the game showing off some new character gameplay, poking around the game's skill tree, showing off the English and French translations of the game and generally putting the smackdown on more than a few changelings. This game's certainly looking like it's coming along pretty nicely, and I'll definitely be personally keeping an eye on this one!

CaptainHoers' Video Essay: Horse Games and Where to Find Them

Yesterday CaptainHoers, of Firestarter Spitfire fame, voiced his view on a few of the darlings in the Pony games world, Ambient, Fallout Equestria and Horse Game. He makes some good points with an appropriately sceptical outlook and a focus on the game design. What makes them work, where do they fall flat and how do they compare. Split into the sections of introductions, the looks, mechanics, the scope of the projects and briefly rounding it with how their states could be improved, he does get well around the subjects.
Give it a watch, form an opinion, learn something and... I dunno, make a game of your own. The community could always need more pony games. Cheers.

BronyCon 2016: The Playable Pony Panels

Here's a little something for those of you who may have missed it! BronyCon's YouTube page has recently put up a playlist of full videos for what I assume is pretty much every panel from this year's convention, including quite a few horse game-related panels which we've compiled below the break for your viewing pleasure! Horse game panels ahoy!

Ambient.White – Gameplay Video no. 1

The guys at A Little Bit Different released the first gameplay trailer, for their game, Ambient.White, previously known as Ambient.Prologue.
With this new trailer they are showcasing story, environments and world and, of course, some gameplay. I’m a horse of the gameplay, a game lives or dies on that, in my book. It is just a shame that it hardly displays any gameplay then, despite apparently being a gameplay trailer.

HorseGame demo trailer and new website

After around a year and a half of development, the team at Equidev (formerly SprakleDev) finally has a new update concerning a new public demo of their project, HorseGame. For those unaware, HorseGame is a 3D platformer inspired by games like Ratchet and Clank, wherein you play as an unnamed unicorn and fight off enemies with various attacks and spells.

While the demo itself isn't quite out yet, the dev team did send us this trailer to post, as well as an announcement to share, which I've placed just past the page break. Read on for more about the project and the demo!

New Megamare X trailer

Megaman being one of my favorite series, I GOT HYPE from this one. Toasty Justice sent in the showcase trailer for Megamare X from EFNW 2014, and it's looking like the project is making good progress. "Now featuring Mech-suits, new enemies, intense platforming, vigorous challenges, and more to come!" he says? Well, count me in!

Get the trailer above; if you want to follow the project, you can do so on twittertumblrdeviantArt, and their website. Also, apologies to Toasty Justice for being a little slow on posting.

Special Somepony Dev Log #1

Well what do you know, Special Somepony (also known as Cloudsdale's infamous SSP, who has simultaneously been the most popular and infuriatingly annoying person on Romance) has recently announced that he/she is providing updates about their status for whatever reason. Not that you'd want to follow the premature dating misadventures of several twelve year old children on an internet chatsite anyhow, but apparently this is pony related so I guess you can...try to enjoy this?

Fallout Equestria: the Unblinking

Now that The Overmare Studios has released this new Fallout: Equestria preview, I can kind of understand why their previous videos used a first-person perspective: their current pony model looks surprisingly creepy when animated, especially with those large, unblinking eyes. Come to think of it, it feels like there's something a bit off with almost all of the animations, although I can't quite lay my finger on it. Perhaps it's just because the animations are incomplete, or maybe this is actually a surreal horror game and Littlepip is an android who happens to fall into the uncanny valley. It's already scarier than Dead Space, so why stop there when you can go all the way down?

They're also recruiting, and since I don't feel like pasting their ad below the break this time you can read about their requirements at http://theovermare.com/blog/2014/04/flow-of-animations.

Equestria Racing

Here we have Equestria Racing, which appears to be some sort of ponified Superman 64 clone minus the beat 'em up sections and kryptonite fog. I do have some rather mixed-feelings about it so far, but hopefully the final product will manage to make for it by throwing in some interesting locations to fly around in and whatnot.

I've embedded some of the previous development updates below the break as well, in case you're interested in seeing those.

Legends of Equestria Releases Post-Babscon Trailer

For various reasons, the Legends of Equestria development team decided to release a Babscon trailer showcasing the game minus the apparently quite awesome dragon invasion they held near the open server weekend's end, which I find somewhat disappointing. Ah well, at least it's a nice preview for those of you who want a sample of the LoE experience without waiting for another open server weekend or the lines of people sitting on that one rooftop and general goofiness typically found in private servers, the latter of which I wouldn't consider a downside to visiting a private server at all.

And on another note, tux3 released his LoE private server build on GitHub a couple days ago, which you can grab at https://github.com/tux3/LoE-PrivateServer/releases for whenever those go live.

Horse Game Update 3

Apparently punting small animals off into the distance is all the rage these days, as the newest Horse Game video seems to focus almost exclusively on this cruel (yet totally hilarious) activity. There's also a rather nice sword and a WIP map which will probably look much more impressive in the near future once some more work has been done on it, although that's probably not their main priority right now.

Oh yeah, and the team's lead developer occasionally posts small updates on his Twitter account, which you can follow @SprakleDev.
