Super Ethical Shipping Climax!!

Guess what? After 4 years of procrastination development, the Super Ethical Shipping Climax is finally done! Long time readers might remember a demo back in 2014, and since the maker is too lazy decided to pander to the nostalgia make it easier to finish the game, the ponies in the game are all classical season 2 style. Twilight is still normal (unicorn), Discord is still stoned, and CMC are still chasing their cutie marks.

Super Ethical Shipping Climax Demo

(Tumblr)

Billing itself as a SFW-ish parody of shipping-centric visual novels, the Super Ethical Shipping Climax demo is an awkward jumble of borrowed vectors, annoying placeholder music and plenty of fourth wall-breaking dialogue. This might sound bad, and from several perspectives it leaves a lot to be desired, but to be honest I rather enjoyed this weird little MLGD Marathon entry in spite of (or perhaps partially because of) its shortcomings. Perhaps that's what the developers intended in the first place?

Since this is only a demo there are several missing endings and whatnot, although I hope they leave in several of the blank scenes in which the narrator laments their lack of a visual artist.

A Release Date for Super Lesbian Horse RPG

Apparently Super Lesbian Horse RPG is coming out on Christmas Day (Wednesday, in case you haven't checked your calendars yet). Since I just got from watching The Desolation of Smaug and am rather tired, let's just say that words cannot fully describe my excitement so I can get this over with and listen to the Electric Light Orchestra, maybe see if a friend of mine is online at this hour.

Good night!

Super Lesbian Horse RPG Update

For those of you who don't follow Bobby Schroeder's tumblr, you may be wondering how SLHRPG is coming along, so he created this Youtube video to give you folks some incentive to visit it more often. Most of the progress updates are too short to be posted here (for example, a recent series detailed his work on a particular rock sitting in the forest), but at least Bobby is being fairly open about the development process when compared to most of the other fangames I've seen which get this far, since they tend to be relatively silent for the most part.

So...yeah. You can follow Super Lesbian Horse RPG's development here.

Text Adventures: My Little Time Killer/Welcome to Dream Valley

Text adventures? Why not? It's been a lazy week so far - two today to stave off the August blues.

My Little Time Killer takes place aboard a space station (see, the header image is at least tangentially relevant) and the goal is to fill time and stave off boredom between the station's many conveniences. Fortunately, between the holodeck, simulated combat system, growing crops, and chatting up your fellow astronauts, there's plenty to do. (Caution: Shipping and a little T-rated humor.)

Welcome to Dream Valley is currently abandoned, but like its sibling features a full combat system and is significantly more complicated than your run-of-the-mill text adventure. Playing as a Unicorn, Pegasus, Earth Pony, or Unicorn, hone your skills while exploring Dream Valley!

Super Lesbian Horse RPG Trailer

Super Lesbian Horse RPG

Much progress has been made on Super Lesbian Horse RPG since we last posted about their demo, even if the game missed its planned release date in June. At least good old Bobby was nice enough to release a trailer showing off the latest additions to his upcoming fangame, mainly showing off his fancy tilesets and the fairly impressive original soundtrack, along with another small sampling of the game's bizarre trademark humour. It also reveals several of the game's enemies for the first time, and for some reason they feel a tad underwhelming. I'm not entirely sure why though...maybe it has something to do with the fact that the art styles used for the foes are somewhat inconsistent with the rest of the game.

Fluttershy by her house.

Everybody loves shipping for some reason. I'm not entirely sure why that is, but some weirdo named Bobby Schroeder decided to make a silly RPG centered around the magic of shipping. Lo and behold, everybody thought he was bloody brilliant, and now he's made such splendid progress that his game actually has a demo (with a Mac port). Most fangames, even the ones assembled by big teams, don't make nearly as much progress as Bob has in this short period; in my opinion, he deserves a reward. Somebody go buy him a horse or something to make him feel good.

My thoughts on this lesbian horse preview thing are after the break.

Super Lesbian Horse RPG

Recently, I was alerted (thanks, Flutterwhat) to an upcoming project dubbed "Super Lesbian Horse RPG." Games made in RPG maker are hit-or-miss: while the program offers you a decent degree of flexibility, if you don't take the initiative you end up with a very cookie-cutter game. Fortunately, SLHRPG could well break that mold.

Although the game lacks an official FAQ, (here it is!) and the information on the blog is far from complete, what's there is enough to give a pretty decent idea of the look and feel of the game. The game's original spriting (see irresistible header image,) art, and a recent music sample point to this being a quality little game, though.

As the title might suggest, Super Lesbian Horse RPG looks to be a quirky, story-focused JRPG. Based on the few snippets of dialogue we've seen and Bobby Schroeder's previous work, it'll probably remain PG but still be very shippy, so don't play it if that's not your cup of tea.

Update: A quote from the developer describes the game as "worksafe; the game has minimal violence and minimal swearing." Jokes go as far as kissing but not into any risque territory.
