All Pony Platforming Project Games Now (Actually) Functional + Last Demo of Minty Fresh Adventure 2 "Always the Bridesmaid"

A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNGGGGGGGGGGG time ago in a distant version of the My Little Pony fandom, there was a series of pony flash platformers known as the Pony Platforming Project. They have been broken on the arcade for... as far as I know... but thanks to a new Ruffle update, it is now trivially simple to host the games correctly without hacking them to Tartarus and back! Some have additionally received some extra content in the form of codes for custom levels for the level editor, or mentions of secrets most of you have likely never seen!
Additionally, we have added the last game of the series on the arcade, or at least the last working demo of it. Beware that despite this being a "new" game, it was released in... 2013! This game was intended to be the sequel to Minty Fresh Adventure as the title implied, with the addition of 2 other playable characters all with improved movesets and RPG elements. Alas, though that has not come to fruition, as the creator has long moved on to greener pastures, the series is now complete and fully playable on the arcade!

Ambient.White – Story Demo Released

The Ambient game project has made significant progress in the last few months, releasing many news updates and, most recently, a new playable game demo that you can download.
However, due to high ambitions and a lack of resources, it appears that the team is putting this project on hold for a few years to work on smaller games that can be done quickly and more reasonably. For Ambient.White, they hope and expect to have a release date some time in 2025, once the team has had time to properly grow and mature.
Visually, the game looks stunning, and both the project and the team have undergone some big changes over the years, so I'd highly recommend checking it out to see how it has evolved!
You can check out the gameplay video on their YouTube channel, or download the game from their website and try it out for yourself.
You can also check out their update video for more information and to learn about their new future goals.

EQG Game Catchup Post III

I just don't know what went wrong
art by uteuk
Hey there, folks! We mentioned two months ago that we'd do a catch-up post in a few weeks, so, uhm, here we are! We have a fair few games to go over today, and this may be the longest catchup article yet!
Also stay tuned, because many of the games listed here will be heading to the arcade soon™!

My Little Pony: Harmony Eclipsed

Well look at that, we're actually posting something in a timely manner!
It looks like we've got a new RPG on the scene! My Little Pony: Harmony Eclipsed is an incredibly fun Final Fantasy-esque game that puts you in the regal horseshoes of Princess Luna (and featuring our other familiar pastel horse protagonists, of course!) on a quest to rid Equestria of a ever-growing dark magic threat, taking place sometime after the end of Season 3. While there's occasional bits of placeholder dialogue or assets as the game is still unfinished, overall there's a surprising amount of game here for something only getting more widespread public attention now, and I still have a decent chunk of game left to go through after clocking roughly two hours with it!
If this sounds like something up your alley, check out the game's thread on MLP Forums linked above for more information and future updates. We've also pasted the relevant information and the download link for this release below the break if that's more your speed!

Filly Astray - awesome platformer

Filly Astray is a new pony platformer in the making, where you take on the role of Filly Anon (a fillified version of Anonymous, the persona of a generic Internet user) and try to return home!

It's currently a demo with sewers level mostly done. The controls are quite smooth, and I really like how you can grab onto the ledge.

Day Dreaming Derpy Demo v0.4 - The Scootaloo Update

We're once again a little slow on the draw (and a little slower than usual at that, admittedly), but that certainly does not and will not impede our enjoyment of posting a new Day Dreaming Derpy update! Keeping things short this time, the developer promises two new dreams to play around in, and as the title suggests, the inclusion of Scootaloo as a playable character, which also means that all three of the Cutie Mark Crusaders are now playable! They also note that this is likely to be the last major update before the release of the full game, as that's predicted to be just around the corner!
Download the latest update at the source above, or check back here later when we're able to update our downloadable mirror of the game. Sweet dreams, sleepy horses!

Day Dreaming Derpy Applebloom Update - Demo v0.3

Here we are again. Another update for the beautiful RPG Adventure, Day Dreaming Derpy has just been released. This time around we have reached version 0.3 with the Applebloom update.
It has been just about three months since the last update, the Sweetie Belle update, already extending this gorgeous demo with new characters, dreams, town areas, etc. A lot of water has run under the bridge and this new version is with even more content, stores, costumes, dreams, areas and so on, as well as providing a few bug fixes, like balancing the beatbox skill I recall being terribly overpowered. All the details are provided in the changelog provided below, as well as downloadables.

Day Dreaming Derpy Sweetie Belle Update - Demo v0.2

An update had recently been released for the charming JRPG affair, Day Dreaming Derpy.
This gorgious game received it's big 'Sweetie Belle update' just a few days ago, introducing a new dream area, a new awake area, new dreams, new uniforms, new followers, one of which you can probably guess from the title of the update, and a whole array of fixes.
What can I say without reiterating points in our previous post on the game?
This really is one of the biggest surprises we've had here for a while, A short sweet demo of a JRPG featuring everypony's favourite muffin enthusiast, exploring the dreams of her fellow ponies. Absolutely beautiful artwork, with only insignificant clashing styles. You wouldn't guess that it is a mere RPG Maker game just from looking at it, really breaking the cookie cutter style you usually see in those easy-to-use engines. Very approachable and simple combat and gameplay, unlike what you would expect when someone brings up JRPG's. Feels very stripped down, in comparison to your Final Fantasies, but never really lacking, unless you're going in expecting another overly complex grand RPG experience.
It is small, it is cute, it feels familiar and emotional and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone to give it a go. It puts a smile on your face, nothing less.
Check out the links below for a trip to the game's official page and our download mirror, authorized with permission of the developer.

Overmare Studios' "Fallout Equestria" now "Ashes of Equestria" + Wave 5 Demo Released

It's been a little slow these past two weeks, but hey, here's a post, so no worries! Once again a little bit late on the uptake, we've got a fairly (probably a bit of an understatement, haha) important update from the now-formerly-named Fallout Equestria team, The Overmare Studios. Provided below the break is the statement from their website regarding the name change, including the always-lovely legalese behind their decision to do so, and above is the link to the latest demo released concurrently with the change.

As an aside, I'd like to take the opportunity to post a little reminder that the Submit button up there exists! Please send us news and other horse game junk when you notice it; even if you think we already know about it, we'd still appreciate the heads-up! We're just a few people here behind the curtain, so we can't (and don't) always catch everything immediately!

Day Dreaming Derpy - Demo Released

Normally I'd lament the fact that we've been beaten to the punch on something like this, but I'm honestly fairly happy to be able to talk about this one at all. Spoiler alert: I'm a little overly excited about this one!

Day Dreaming Derpy, as presented here in early demo-form, is an absolutely wonderful little colorful horse-themed JRPG featuring Derpy Hooves (naturally) having adventures in both the real and dream worlds with plenty of collusion between the two. Costumes, abilities and equippable items earned during the day become usable in the dream world, becoming key in helping Derpy with fighting the nightmares within the ponies' dreams she explores.

Without going into too much detail and spoiling what should really be experienced just on its own merits, we've got a wonderful little demo here filled with plenty of fan-favorite characters, an interesting story, a delightfully quirky sense of humor and some seriously nifty pixel art that all comes together to make for a super comfy and fun colorful horse gaming experience. Really, even if JPRGs aren't your cup of tea, I believe there's still something to be appreciated about a fangame that's this well put-together, especially at such an early stage. Seriously, the only knocks I can really give it are one or two overworld clipping/collision issues and some basic writing quirks; other than that, it's pretty much smooth sailing!

Check out the game's page above for your fill of detailed information, screenshots and dev logs, or you can skip that and jump straight to the download page if you'd prefer. Remember to also pick up and install the RPGMaker VX ACE run time package here to be able to play the game.

NOTE: The original Equestria Daily post reports that you may need to disable your antivirus to make sure things unpack correctly. I did not personally experience this issue, but your mileage may vary.

The Forgotten Era

Equestria Gaming had a long break. A visible decline all throughout 2014 with the final abandonment in 2015. Of course it was not because nothing was happening, so this segment, The Forgotten Era, is to shed light onto the news that never got covered during this time. Won’t it be a bit pointless to report on months and potentially years old material? Perhaps it is, but it shows respect to the creators who couldn’t get their hard work out into the world and show a broader audience what they have achieved, while this outlet was out of commission.
These are not going to be done in any specific order. Just random picks from the backlog, rather that any sort of attempt at doing these chronologically. Our list is only covering what I imagine to be a fraction of the last year’s happenings, so feel free to send in any news and whatnot that never got their chance to get covered here. Now without further ado, let’s have a look at the first entry to this recurring segment.

Compilation Post #1

Hello! Sorry for letting the site go quiet for a while. Between other projects of mine and personal life things, there hasn't been much time to devote to playing through fangames to write individual posts. In an effort to bring some activity to this place regardless, I'm going to start writing little compilation posts of the smaller projects we receive in our submissions inbox. Expect a variety of content in these, from completed games to pitches for larger projects that just don't have enough information available yet to fill an entire article.

If any of the content here looks like it should have its own separate article, feel free to leave a comment saying so!

Demo: HorseGame

Hey, remember that HorseGame thing we posted about earlier? Well, the team at EquiDev has now released the demo for public consumption, which can be downloaded from their site. It contains one playable area with a variety of enemies, collectibles and spells to entertain oneself with. I've already said all about the game that I can in the last article, so I'll cut straight to the chase and post their announcement below the break.

HorseGame demo trailer and new website

After around a year and a half of development, the team at Equidev (formerly SprakleDev) finally has a new update concerning a new public demo of their project, HorseGame. For those unaware, HorseGame is a 3D platformer inspired by games like Ratchet and Clank, wherein you play as an unnamed unicorn and fight off enemies with various attacks and spells.

While the demo itself isn't quite out yet, the dev team did send us this trailer to post, as well as an announcement to share, which I've placed just past the page break. Read on for more about the project and the demo!

Demo: The Underworld's Cello 2.0

Note: This game contains a few mature themes, as well as some crude gore.

Are you enjoying Halloween so far? No? Let's do something about that. Octavia in The Underworld's Cello is a point-and-click adventure game made by Herooftime1000 wherein two ponies get lost in an old mansion. Within, you'll find puzzles, alchemy, and even a few card games. The content present is a lot of fun, and the game seems to take inspiration from old LucasArts point-and-clicks in every aspect of presentation.

Though the game is unfinished, the current content is more than enough for a good evening of fun and jump scares, as long as you make sure to save often. The puzzles present are great fun, and the mechanics help to add a lot of depth to the gameplay, though occasionally an item seemed to vanish upon pickup with a full inventory.

Minipost: MoonLight engine, music and general update

 MoonLight Tumblr

If you remember the game MoonLight from a few posts back, it now has its own Tumblr in case you want to follow its progress. Along with that, the creator has added a "demo" of the engine being tried out and a sample of the music that has been made so far. The engine is still in an extremely early state, but I think it gives a good feel of what the game is aiming for.

Demo: Super Pony Wars

http://project-spw.tumblr.com/

Super Pony Wars is a turn-based strategy game modeled after the Super Robot Wars (or Super Robot Taisen) games. The player moves each pony around a grid-based map and chooses from a list of attacks to defeat the enemies. You can also choose to watch the neat attack animations or skip them if you'd prefer. It's currently under development and the creator of the game is looking for anyone who would like to help in the making of it.

Update: MLP: Revenants of Chaos / Project Dash playable demo

Here we have an update on the progress of MLP: Revenants of Chaos, a promising upcoming adventure platformer clearly inspired in 16-bit era classics. In this game we take on the role of everyone's favourite technicolor flyer, Rainbow Dash, as she runs and flies around Ponyville collecting gems and fruit and avoiding dangerous oranges.

Legends of Equestria Releases Post-Babscon Trailer

For various reasons, the Legends of Equestria development team decided to release a Babscon trailer showcasing the game minus the apparently quite awesome dragon invasion they held near the open server weekend's end, which I find somewhat disappointing. Ah well, at least it's a nice preview for those of you who want a sample of the LoE experience without waiting for another open server weekend or the lines of people sitting on that one rooftop and general goofiness typically found in private servers, the latter of which I wouldn't consider a downside to visiting a private server at all.

And on another note, tux3 released his LoE private server build on GitHub a couple days ago, which you can grab at https://github.com/tux3/LoE-PrivateServer/releases for whenever those go live.

Today: the Beginning of Yet Another LoE Server Weekend Thing

Back in March we posted about an upcoming Legends of Equestria open server weekend from April 18 to 20, and now that the 18th has finally been reached we are pleased to announce that the event has begun on time. You can download a copy of the game here, and don't worry about login issues; apparently the team has resolved those so we probably won't have more horror stories of people literally waiting for several hours to get in.

If you aren't able to play this weekend for whatever reason, I'd suggest downloading the client anyways since Tux3 will probably release another private server for it after the event is done. We've also copypasted a guide to the game below, which you can also find at http://forum.legendsofequestria.com/index.php?topic=10677.
